Why do Teens Sleep so Much?

You're checking your emails, folding the laundry, and before you know it lunch time arrives.

But what sticks out the most? Your teen is still aseep....and it's past noon.

There is actually a biological reason behind the cause of teens "oversleeping."

A brain hormone called melatonin controls the sleeping and waking cycles. At night, melatonin is activated and made later than full grown adults. Therefore, teens tend to fall asleep later then adults and find themselves sleeping in till noon.

However, this does not serve as an excuse for not going to sleep at a reasonable hour, especially on school nights.

Be sure that your teen completes their homework and has their phone turned off past ten. It is very important that teens get their rest.

According to many sources, sleep deprivation has a vast connection with becoming sick. The more lack of sleep, the more "shut down" one's immune system is. Therefore, the easier it is to become ill.

Like many, some teens suffer from insomnia.

Here are a list of ways to fall asleep with ease:

  • Drink tea or take a hot shower before bed

  • Develop regular sleep cycles (Ex: Always go to bed at 10PM, get up at 9 7AM)

  • Don't drink any caffeine past 5PM

  • Exercise during the day (doing nothing won't make your body tired)

Hopefully this post can help you understand teens and their sleeping habits more. I apologize for the late post.

Welcome!

Hello,

This is Alexandra the same author who writes for Renesmee's Diary. You're probably wondering why I decided to move on to blogging than writing.
Well for starters, it doesn't take much time to brainstorm ideas for a general topic (such as teen life) and to edit/revise. I also really want to make an impact on people's lives.
People are struggling to make it through the day or lose weight (I'll write a blog on weight loss, too).
My writing time is additionally limited, so it would be easy for me to incorporate some blogging into my schedule.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I hope to discuss bullying, Twilight, living a healthy lifestyle, and anything else that you may want me to discuss. Just be sure to make a post suggesting your idea for discussion.

Thanks everyone <3
Alexandra
